The last couple of weeks has been pretty hectic and although I have finished three books, I still feet as if I haven’t really read much. It is strange that you go through phases like this.
Anyway, here is a rundown of what I have been up to over the last couple of weeks. This isn’t just book stuff but I have also snuck in some TV and Movie stuff too. I do hope you enjoy.
The first book I managed to finish was It Was You by Jo Platt. I had been invited to read and review it as part of a blog tour and since I like mixing up genre’s, a book touted as “Laugh Out Loud”, seemed to be a nice change from what I had been reading. Not to go into too much detail, it was a really surprising, but heart warming read. Although it did have funny bits in it, the book was much more than that and I really loved in. Do check out my review HERE to read more of my thoughts.
The next book I finished was The Silver Bells Christmas Pantomime by Lynsey James. Again, this was another book I had been invited to read and review as part of a blog tour. Though this book was good, it wasn’t great. I did find a lot of things I really liked about it, there were some parts that pulled down my overall enjoyment. If you want to read more details, check out my review HERE.
The final book I managed to complete was Frozen by L A Casey. This was a book I picked up when I attended an authors signing event in July. It had been on my radar for ages, but I was a bit apprehensive about reading anther book by this author as I didn’t enjoy one of her previous books I had read. This was quickly dismissed as I really, really loved this book. Think of a RomCom Jingle All The Way and you have a good idea what this book is like. My review for this won’t be up till December because I want to have some Christmas themed books for then.
Right now I am currently reading three books. The first, I mentioned in my last Cosy Catch Up, In Order To Live by Yeomini Park. I am almost finished this book and though I am finding this a good book, I am reluctant to say that I am enjoying it due to the fact that I know that this is a true story and that has been harrowing to read. Regardless, I would highly recommend picking this up.
The next book I am reading is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, which I am reading as part of a buddy read with Jo from the blog Vampire Book Club (@Jo_VBC) and Goldilox from the blog Goldilox and The Three Weres (@Goldilox3Weres). It has started off really good and the bits I have read seem accurate in describing it as an Ocean’s Eleven Type heist book.
The last book I have started reading is Fighting To Be Free by Kirsty Moseley. I didn’t intend to start this, but I needed something romancy to read before bedtime and decided to pick this one up. I’m about five chapters in and i have to say that I really like this. I think it is going to be a good read.
Apart from reading, I have also binge watched The Crown on Netfix. If you have access, are a fan of historical programs and haven’t seen this yet, I highly recommend watching this program. Before this show, I was not a huge Matt Smith fan, but this has changed my perception. It is also such a lavish production, with beautiful costumes, sets and a cast that are stellar. I’m just sad I have to wait so long for season 2.
The only other thing of note is the fact I caught Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Huge Disclaimer: I am not a huge Harry Potter Fan, so I wasn’t as excited to see this as I would be for a comic book movie. After seeing this film, I am sold on this new look into the Wizarding World. It is clear that J K Rowling is aiming for an older audience with this series and I think it really works. Do catch this film in the cinema and if you can see it in Imax 3D because the effects are amazing.
Well, thats me for another installment. I think the fortnightly posts work best for me and I hope to keep this up. Please do feel free to comment below with what you have read, are reading or are planning to. Until next time, bye!
