So, 2014 is now over and though I have exceeded last years total number of books read (67 in 2014 compared to 58 last year), there are books on my TBR pile that I have kept meaning to read, but are still languishing in that mountain. So this is a list of books that I hope to read pretty early on in 2015
1. The Girl With All The Gifts by M. R. Carey
Published by Orbit
Released Jan 2014
I’ve hear lots of good things about this book and though I didn’t pick it up until July 2014, it is a book that keeps taunting me from its shelf. I love a good Sci-Fi/ Horror book and this has had a lot of buzz. I think I am going to make a real effort to read this book.
2. Banished by Liz De Jager (The Blackheart Legacy #1)
Published by Tor UK
Released Feb 2014
I bought this book due to the fact that the author was a Twitter friend who just got her book deal. However, bad Gemma never got round to reading this book. The third book (possibly the last in the series) is out in 2015 and with the second book Vowed also sitting on my TBR, I really need to get my butt in gear and get this read.
3. Twisted Together by Pepper Winters (Monsters in The Dark #3)
Published by Author (Self-Published)
Released June 2014
I devoured the first two books in the series very quickly and had every intention of reading the third book. It was not to be and Twisted Together now sits on my TBR pile awaiting my attention
4. Beautiful Stranger by Christina Lauren (Beautiful Bastard #2)
Published by Gallery Books
Released April 2013
One half of the duo was at the Authors event I went to in July 2014 and I bought nearly all the books that were published at that time to get signed. I loved the first book and was dying to read the next. The fact it is on this list should indicate what happened
5. The Gospel of Loki by Joanna Harris
Published by Golanz
Released Feb 2014
The fact that this is about Loki and is by the author of Chocolat fame, I knew I had to buy this book. Loki (ok Tom Hiddelston) is my favourite Norse God and so I needed to see this non-superhero take on the character. He is still sitting on my shelf… And he isn’t happy.
6. Hammered by Kevin Hearne
Published by Orbit
Released September 2011
I’m REALLY far behind on this series and I keep kicking myself over this. This is an awesome series with a great protagonist. Hearne has set up a really great premise and I am scolding myself for not reading this sooner. This is going to be an aim. To get this series read
7. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Published by Puffin
Released Jan 2012
This book has been sitting on my TBR shelf for ages. I bought it because I love the story of Cinderella. This sci-fi setting just made it all the more appealing. Still it sits on my shelf and I know I need to read it.
8. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Published by Harvill Secker
Released Sep 2011
This was a book I received for Christmas a few years ago and I have yet to read it. This has had a lot of positive buzz and it’s one I keep meaning to read. So, I think I will bump this up on the list.
9. Taking A Shot by Jaci Burton
Published by Headline Eternal
Released Dec 2013
I had started this book early in the year, but I had put it aside to read some books for an author event that I was going to in July. I feel bad when I abandon a book so I am determined to read and finish this
10. A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrison
Published by Harper Voyeger
Released Feb 2012
This was another book that I had started, but had abandoned due to trying to read some of the authors at the event I attended in July of last year. Since this series has now finished, I really want to see it to its conclusion.
Honourable Mentions
Rough Diamond (Diamond Trilogy #1) by Justine Elyot
The King (The Original Sinners: White Years #2) by Tiffany Reisz
Tamed (Tangled #3) by Emma Chase
Sweet Filthy Boy (Wild Season #1) by Christina Lloyd
French Lessons by Monica Belle
You did better than me, I only managed 31 books last year (did 67 in 2013). Some books on here I want to read too. I want to read Banished, catch up with the Iron Druid Chronicles and Kim Harrsion’s series (forgotten the name of it for the moment). The Night Circus tempts me too.
Kim Harrison series is the hollows. I’m behind on it too! You had a very good reason. You had a baby!
