WEEK IN REVIEW – (Week Ending 19th October 2014)

Week In Review

Hello and welcome to this weeks “Week In Review”…. Well more the last three weeks. I know you may all be wondering what had happened to me and that I may have been kidnapped by aliens, but the truth is I have been away on Holiday to Orlando and only just returned home on the 8th October. That weekend was a complete bust for me and I never got round to doing a week in review at that weekend. So, this may be a slightly longer Week in Review than usual.

So what have I managed to read in the last few weeks? Well, I did manage to read or finish two books on holiday. First up was Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winters. This is the first part in a novella series by Winters, called Inherited. Overall I liked the first part, but I didn’t love it. For me the couple missed the spark between Q and Tess from her fantastic Monsters in The Dark series. Saying that, I do want to read more about these new characters.

The second book I read was The Wedding Proposal by Sue Moorcroft. This was a really brilliant read and a fantastic holiday book. It has been ages since I have read a “proper” ChicLit or Contemporary Romance or whatever you want to class it book. To find out more about what I thought about it, check my review here.

When I returned home, I managed to finish two books, which is no mean feat when trying to get back into a routine after a holiday. However, I did manage to read Afraid to Fall by W. Ferraro and In Your Corner by Sarah Castille. Both books ended up being just OK and I am trying to figure out my feelings to both. Expect the reviews for these in the future.

While I was on holiday, I made my usual pilgrimage to Barnes & Nobel. As everyone knows, when on holiday, all restrictions on buying books are lifted. I did purchase a few books, one being In Your Corner. However, I was really disappointed not to buy the latest books by J R Ward, Samantha Young and Joanne Wylde. It seemed even though these authors are popular, none of the usual places where I buy my books in Orlando seemed to be stocking them. So, in the end I just ordered them from Book Depository.

So I have decided that my next read is going to be a book I received for review called Diamonds by Justine Elyot. I just received the second book in the series and I really want to tackle some of my review books.

Besides reading, I also managed to go to the cinema to see Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck and Rosemund Pike. This was a great thriller and had me on the edge of my seat for most of the 2+ hours that it was on. I highly recommend going to see this film and I have heard that the film ending differs from the book, so even if you have read it, expect a surprise. I have yet to read the book, but after seeing the film I am interested to see how it differs

Anyway, that’s me for this week. Please feel free to post any comments on questions below. Hope you all have a great weekend.
