WEEK IN REVIEW – (Week ending 28th September 2014)

Week In Review
Hey Everyone. I hope you all are having a great week. This week has been relatively quiet for me, which should have meant that I was making progress on the books I was reading last week. It is true that I have read a good chunk of Icefall by Gillian Philips and I have also started After by Anna Todd.

However, in the case of After, my progress has slowed down a bit. I know a bit about the background of the book and I admit that it is hasn’t been difficult to push aside the inspiration behind the book. (For those who don’t know, this started off life as a OneDirection fanfic). My progress has been hampered by feelings I have about either the lead female or the pacing of the book. I’m going to battle on with this book, if only due to the fact that underneath my issues with it, the author does have a very promising talent.

As for Icefall, well I really don’t want this book to end. This series has been a joy to read and makes me sad that this is the last book. The pace has picked up quite a bit and the end is in sight. What this ending will be, I don’t know. All I do know, and I quote Star Wars in this, “I have a bad feeling about this.”

This week hasn’t been a complete bust, as I did manage to finish Mister Black by P. T. Mitchell. This is the first part in her In the Shadows serial. It’s just over a hundred pages in length but was a really satisfying read. Yes, it was the first part in a continuing series, but I felt it could have served as a nice short story. Although, saying that I can’t wait to read the second part, Scarlett Red.

What has everyone else been reading this week?

  1. Good to hear that you had a quiet week, even if you didn’t manage to read as much as you planned it certainly sounds like you managed to read a lot.
You sound like you have some interesting books this week, so I hope you enjoy them and that you have a good week.

    • Thanks Becki. I have some rather diverse tastes but it depends on the mood I’m in. I really loved Mister Black. It was a well written quick read. (And was seriously H-O-T!!)
